HST coupler is a flat coupling in wide bandwidth with very low insertion loss in the main line. It is a reactive device requiring high directivity and variable coupling values.

The high performance nature of the device allows signal processing functions, such as incident and reflected power measurements to determine VSWR, signal sampling, and power management.
